Barbie doll is a poem by Florence Dunington, a second-year Creative Writing and English Literature student at the University of Chester. She is 20 and comes from South London.

The inspiration behind the poem derived from a couple of things. Firstly, it was some recent readings around gender performance and stereotypes, with influence from Judith Butler. Secondly, she was inspired by a more personal experience of dealing with her own body, reflecting on how she views it and wanting to transform it, with reasons behind wanting to change it in the first place.
